Futures Jump Overnight!

 

Futures look to rally for tomorrow's session with the Dow Futures up over 259 points, and nasdaq up over 100 points at 8:30pm ET. This will be a huge week for investors as they continue to monitor the Russia-Ukraine war, and also await the FED's next move. The FED is expected to raise interest rates a quarter point after their 2 day meeting which ends Wednesday. If they raise rates, this will be the first time since 2018 that rates have gone up.

Stocks to Watch

 

The market has been rattled in recent weeks first by rapidly rising inflation, the threat of FED interest rate hikes, and now the conflict in Ukraine. Certain sectors have done well over the last month (energy in particular) while others like technology have been beaten down. Here is a list of stocks to watch today and their respective moves in the last month. 

Each one of these stocks presents an opportunity to purchase shares in a company with strong leadership and balance sheets. As you can see the "stay at home" plays have been crushed recently with Shopify and Roblox down each over 35% in the last month alone. In my opinion they are looking cheap compared to their still strong growth stories.  I will update this list each week to see how the stocks are faring, and note any moves I do in my personal account as well.

Inflation rises 3.4% in May!

 According to the commerce department, inflation rose the highest it’s risen since the 1990’s! What’s remarkable is that the market seems to be shrugging this off, with DOW futures set to rise 150 points! This has been a tremendous week and certainly locks in the bull thesis.

 As of 8am, DOW , S&P, and Nasdaq are all up approximately .5% ! Good way to start the day as long as you are not short..

OIH room to run??!!

 Energy has definitely been the place to be in 2021. I got into OIH a little under 200, and it has been a crazy ride so far with moves over 3% a day pretty common. However, with the economies of the world coming back and Oil already over $70/barrel, this could just be the start. Take a look at this graph..

Back in 2014, OIH was well over $1000/share. Could we be on our way back? Im in for the ride for sure.
